Arts & Crafts Festival on Upper West Side, September 21-22


Childrens' activities, live music, romance novel and poetry readings highlight the West Side Community Garden's Annual Arts & Crafts Festival, Saturday and Sunday, September 21-22, 2013 at the Garden, located on West 89th Street between Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues. 
The event is free.

Artwork and crafts created by local westside artists will be for sale from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. both days by the garden's 89th Street entrance. Paintings, photographs, jewelry, ceramics, quilting and limited edition clothing and more. 

Saturday, Sept. 21, family-friendly events include a free crafts workshop for children (all materials provided) from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.,a magic show at 1.p.m., and folk music singalong at 3p.m.  

On Sunday, Sept. 22, the New York String Orchestra conducted by Stephen Josephs, will present a concert on the garden green from noon until 1p.m.


From 2-4 p.m. local poets Howard Pflanzer and Rosalie Calabrese will "bookend" live readings of romance novels by members of the Romance Writers of America New York Chapter.  A booksigning and reception will follow.
